    Hello,

I own an Inspiron 600m (2 years old). All of a sudden, after charging the laptop for a couple of hours, when I try to put it on, it does not.

Strangely, when I press the "power" button, I see the just the power LED glowing for 5 seconds, after which it goes off.
    During this time, nothing happens.

    I have tried the following:
    1. Removing the battery and plugging on the laptop
    2. Discharged the battery completely by pressing the power button for 10 seconds without battery
    3. Tried using a new power adapter in a new wall socket.

I tried all the above, however was futile in getting the laptop up and running.

Any suggestions/ comments to get the laptop started? Any one has encountered this problem before?

    I await your help...

My 600m died in the same manner July of this year. I think they have programmed death on Dells...

Is there a red light which blinks and then goes off? Supposedly that means the mobo is fried. Terrible, isn't it? If you know for sure that 1) you battery isn't completely worn out , and 2) that your charger isn't malfunctioning ,then there isn't anything you can do but replace the motherboard.

That costs more than getting a new notebook. (Well, not really. What I mean is that its around 120$, but for 400$ you can have a new, low end model so it isn't worth the repair cost)

See my signature? That's the one I bought a few months before the 600m died.
