    hello.
    I have inspiron 600m laptop.
I replaced my cracked XGA screen with SXGA screen.
I didn't closely check my bios first page says "Panel Type: 14" XGA" until I bought the SXGA panel.
Now, XP screen does not show and it's black after XP logo.
XP logo is VGA screen so I can see.
I upgraded my bios to A17 that is most recent but still does not work.
Also, I tries Video Expansion in bios to Disabled.

Is there anyway to make this screen work?

Do I understand you correctly that it displays some things on the LCD like the BIOS setup and Windows logo, just not your XP desktop? What if you boot into safe mode so that it uses the VGA display driver only, can you see the desktop then?

    that's correct.
In VGA mode or safe mode I can see XP desktop.
Also, I can see BIOS and logo.

Is there a way you can attach an external monitor and make that the primary screen? Some laptops have a hotkey for that I think. You could boot up in normal mode to the blank screen, hotkey over to the external monitor, then play around with your graphics adapter settings to see if you can get the LCD to work as a secondary screen at native resolution. If that worked you could flip it back to having the LCD as the primary screen and see if it can boot up like that.
