I've decided to buy a laptop from Dell for college, but I can't seem to decide between the Inspiron 600m or 6000. I liked the 600m because it is lighter than the 6000, but the 6000 has a nice sized screen. Which one has a higher battery life? I'll be using the laptop for word processing, a little bit of photo editing, watching a few movies, and using the internet. I'll probably be carrying it around from class to library to dorm room. I'm hoping it will last for all four years or at least two years. Should I buy the four year warranty? Thanks.

both are good notebooks, but I like the 6000 better. It has a more professional look, plus better for viewing dvds. The 6000 probably has the better battery life, plus you can get the standard 6 cell and a 9 cell for 25 dollars more than if you just got a 9 cell battery.

As for warranty, some people think the 4 year is a good idea. Personally i don't think so, and I wouldn't go with anything over 3 years. We had another thread awhile back on warranties that gave some other ideas that were very helpful. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=9486

another thing about the warranty is that you can extended it when it gets close to running out. So if you decide later on that you want additional coverage, you would be able to add it.
