    Hello guys,

Three days ago I received my new Dell Inspiron 6400. But I got one problem. I got some heavy light leakage on the bottom of my screen. Since I discovered it's really annoying me. I only see this when watching a movie on when I have dark colors on my screen.I got a picture here. What you guys think... should I send it back to Dell and let them replace it or is this normal ?
My friend got exactly the same laptop, we received it the same day and he has no backlight leakage at all!

    Thanks in advance,

    Inzo

    Hi Inzo,

Sorry to hear you've had such bad luck with your screen. I just received my 6400 today, and it's completely free of light leakage (I have the 1440 x 900 screen with TrueLife).

I think it's quite common for there to be some light leakage at the bottom of the screen, but yours does look like a particularly bad case.

If it's annoying you, then you should definitely contact Dell, let them know that you are unhappy with the quality of the screen, and request a replacement.

I hope it gets sorted for you soon! :)

Yes LCD’s do suffer from various degrees of leakage but yours in my opinion seems pretty bad.

So yes I would consider contacting Dell and politely but firmly get that screen replaced. If they don’t accommodate you first time round ask to speak to a manager.

    Hello again,

I was really happy when I woke up to see the replies. Thanks for that. I am sure I am going to call Dell for a replacement. This morning I took a new picture in a dark room with a black background. I took the picture from the best viewing angle from my eyes. I made sure the angle had the best real colors on the bottom and on the top of the screen. So this is the result.. It's afwul!

    Hi again!

I just called Dell Netherlands and told my story. Since it's a new system
(just few days old) they are coming tomorrow to change my screen! I can't be more pleased than that! Hope the new screen is better than this! Excellent treated by Dell customer service!

    Greetings,

    Inzo
