    Inspiron 6400/1501 Screen Flicker / Humming Sound.

    I have an Inspiron with 2 two problems.

    I normally use my Laptop with the power cable. When I pull out the power cord to use my battery, the screen will start to flicker very fast from whats on the screen to a black screen. This does not happen all the time but enough to be very annoying. A restart usually fixes the problem.


    When I'm using headphones there is a humming sound. If I place a finger on the firewire port, the humming stops. Also, if I'm using the battery there is no humming sound.

    This is my first laptop. Are these problems common with laptops?
    What will be the reaction of Dell if I call them?
