    My brother broke the plastic disc retainer nub on his DVD drive into 3 pieces and lost the middle piece, any recourse aside from replacement? Where would you find a replacement internal drive?

    Like Commander said, they are cheap. It doesn't even have to be a Dell drive, just a standard notebook DVD drive: Drives on NewEgg

    You will have to change out some hardware to mount it, but it's easy.
