    hi ,
    my lcd panel broke so I want to replace it with a new one - my question is
    can I use any 15,4" lcd panel with 30 pin connection or what other things do I have to consider when buying one?
    is it important if its a glossy/glare/matt lcd or is it just a matter of taste?
    what brand do you recommend ( LG , samsung ..etc. )?
    thanks in advance

    Inspiron 6400 Screens
    WSXGA+
    WXGA

    WSXGA+ = 1680x1050
    WXGA = 1280x800

    PS: Those are on eBay, which IMO is the cheapest place to get em!

    LG and AUOptronics are generally regarded as excellent displays, and supposedly Samsung displays are mediocre. If it has the right connections and size, it should work. Glossy vs. matte is simply a matter of your own personal taste.

    You may also have to get an inverter, if yours is broken and/or the display does not come with one.

    That is a major generalization
    Every panel is different. I have a Samsung 1280x800 display on my E1505 and I love it.
    Just a FYI, the Insprion 6400 and E1505 use the same LCD's

    Naturally, there will always be some differences in each model. I know in the new Studio 1555, the Samsung display has far worse viewing angles, brightness, and color than the AUO display.
