Hi,
I've had my Dell Inspiron 6400 for about a year and a half now (it's past its warranty). It has been working absolutely fine for me, except for a slight battery problem which has recently sprung up. Since about 3 days ago, the battery light on the top right above the keyboard has been blinking orange. The battery icon on the taskbar also says that the battery has been charging (staying at 95%) for the last 3 days, even though I always use AC power for my laptop. Is this an indication that I need a new battery? And if so, would an Inspiron 6400 battery be easy to obtain from Dell? Also, I've recently learned that it's bad for the battery to always have the computer running on AC power (which I always do). How should I run my laptop differently? Even if there is a problem with my battery, will I still be able to run my computer fine by just AC power? My battery is a Lithium-Ion 9-cell. Thanks a lot!

Do a full charge/discharge cycle and follow the battery guide.

OK, thanks! I did the charge/recharge cycle, and my battery's now at 100% again. The battery light is still flickering orange, however. What does this mean?

this indicates temporary failure on the battery of the system. you might need to replace it.
