Hello all. I currently own a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop which is close to 2 years old. I am running XP Home 2002 SP2, processor is Intel Core Duo 1.66ghz, 1 gig of ram. The laptop battery completely stopped charging about 2 weeks ago and I am running completely on AC power now. I opted to buy a non OEM battery and my system will not recognize it at all. Is there something I have to do to get the system to recognize that I have battery power available? When I click on power options, it tells me that no battery is installed. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

The best thing I can think of is calling Dell and see what they say. Either that or get on support.dell.com and order a new battery from them.

Though, a new battery is expensive.

You can find a genuine Dell battery for a cheaper price. I got a Genuine 9 cell battery for $85.
