I have a remanufactured Inspiron 6400 that I received from Dell last year a replacement for my old notebook that died. I'm having a problem with the LCD screen. Almost every time I power it on, the screen flickers and jumps, with horizontal lines running across. I can usually get it to stop by moving the screen or tapping the back. But if the notebook gets jarred or if I adjust the screen, the flickering comes back.

I connected my notebook to an external monitor, and the video output is fine, even while the LCD is jumping. So it definitely seems to be a problem with the LCD. Does anyone have a clue about what might be causing this? Does it sound like the LCD itself is bad, or is there a cable or other part that might be the issue? Unfortunately the warranty on my 6400 has expired.
