    My friend is selling me his 6400

    Processor and Chipset
    * Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2.0Ghz, 4M L2 Cache 667 MHz FSB)
    * Intel 945PM Express
    System Memory
    * 2GB DDR2-667 (1GB x 2)
    GPU
    * ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 256MB HyperMemory
    with the 9 cell battery

    but the laptop does not register the charger,
    when you attempt to turn the laptop on it shows the orange battery then turns off, so i am assuming that its chargers input connection to the system board :mad:.

    or its the charger as its a 65w while the battery is 85w. ( he got the old charger slammed in a car door and frayed the cable, hence the different charger)

    he hasn't used this laptop in 2 months and before that time it was working perfectly.

    any help would be most appreciated.

    Theoretically you should be using a 90W power supply with that 6400. However, a 65W adapter should still work. The relationship between the wattage of the charger and the capacity of the battery should be irrelevant.

    So I'm guessing there's a hardware problem. Could be a defective charger.

    In that case it is probably an issue with the mainboard... and if it is there's little you can do short of replacing it. Is the unit still under warranty?
