Hi, I've had my laptop for about a year and half now, and as of late, it has started to randomly crash. By crash, I mean the screen goes black, but is still on. Its like when you turn the computer on and before the Windows logo appears. Its completely black, but you can see that its on. When it randomly does this, its completely unresponsive. The only way to proceed is to hold down the power button and reset. This has been happening on and off for about two months, sometimes going weeks without it happening again. When the computer restarts, its sluggish and unresponsive and it takes forever to load up. I'm wondering if the problem could be heat related? Even though the problem seems to be random (high load and low load). Would a fresh reformat solve this problem? I don't believe its software related because I cant remember installing anything and having this problem.

Any Ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

    -Andrew

You probably would benefit by doing a fresh reinstallation of the operating system.

Sounds like your vid card is going bad, also did you somehow manage to adjust your power saving settings?
