Hi there, I smashed my 6400 screen a few days ago. I have been given an inspiron 8600 with a working screen to use if possible. I have been told it should work but has anybody tried it and do any other parts need changing over?
I tried searching but could not find the answer anywhere on google so came here for help.
Cheers,
Richard

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
It may work, same screen size and aspect ratio. You may need a new LVDS cable.

The bloke with the 8600 reckons it is not the same screen now so I am back to square one. How do I know which screens are compatible with mine? Is it worth me sourcing a new screen or sell it on ebay for spares?

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
The 8600 screen electrically works, but there are some tabs at the top that won't fit in the 6400. You should get screens from Latitude D820/D830, Vostro 1500, Inspiron 1520/1525 (and maybe even 6000).
Inspiron 6400 screen, replace with 8600 screen?
