I have recently reformated my laptop, which has the sigmatel 9200 audio chip. I have installed the basic sigmatel audio driver which i found on the dell website, since there was no driver on the sigmatel site.
Originally the laptop had the soundblaster software driver....
Is there any other driver i can use to improve the sound quality of the laptop and the sigmatel chip?

Why not just install the soundblaster software? You should have received a disc from Dell with the software on it, and if you didn't, contact dell and request it.

i have got in touch with Dell (UK)...but not only they don't give cd's out...as they claim that everything is on the cd with the laptop, but they try to convince me at the beginning that the chip is soundblaster and then they said that it has 2 audio chips, one soundblaster one sigmatel.

Okay, unless something is really different between USA and UK, I don't think there is another site.
Well if you want to, you can buy the soundblaster software directly from Creative. I haven't tried this yet, but you can download the following which is the software, and then you should be able to buy an upgrade for it.

can i install that on top of the sigmatel driver....and
does it make a difference on the sound quality? -
Yes, you can install that. All the SB option is on Dell's site is software and that is the same thing that they offer. I think it cost 16 on dell to get it, and 20+ on Creative's site.
Supposedly it does make a difference. I don't have that specific software since I have a PCMCIA card, but several users seem to enjoy it. If this is the same software that you took the trial version, you'll get the same results if you pay for it.
