Just received this laptop and I'm noticing constant flickering of the screen. It happens on both battery and when plugged in. I tried to call Dell to get an exchange but after the 1 hour transfer-hold routine (twice), I gave up. Has anyone else noticed flickering? Also, what's the best way to contact Dell warranty service?

Dells customer service is the pits. I needed to order mine on the phone and it was without a doubt the worst experience ever in trying to purchase the laptop. I had to escalate to a manager because the rep kept arguing with me for addons and then over my address for shipping. A home I grew up in and where my parents still live after 50 years. Yea, the address didn't change. Guess it's time to fill out that survey.

I would suggest not documenting your problem over the phone but through email to them.

Popping a new 8260 wireless card was a real boost too. Not that i get faster download speeds but it's just a more consistent connection I get. The usable range was extended by a good 20 to 30 feet from the old card.

Yeah, the default 1x1 card is more than adequate for normal usage, but a 8260 is definitely an upgrade. Luckily Dell at least made it easy to swap out the wifi card.

Anybody who wants to upgrade the wifi card on the cheap can also try and find a 7265AC from Intel. They're usually cheap on Amazon, like $40 CAD ($30 USD or so).

    Hi Ramzay,

Thanks for your informative posts in this forum on the 7559. I have the 4k version with i7-6700HQ, the default 8GB of RAM + additional 4GB RAM slot, Transcend 512 GB SSD in the M.2 slot & another Transcend 512 GB SSD in the 2.5" slot.

    I'm debating whether just to:
    1. Get an additional compatible Hynix 8GB DDR3L PC3L-12800S 11-12-F3 HMT41GS6AFR8A to pair it with the very slightly different existing RAM slot - Hynix 8GB DDR3L PC3L-12800S 11-13-F3 HMT41GS6BFR8A, or
    2. Order a better pair like you used, or even something like Vengeance 2 x 8GB 9-9-9-24 CMSX16GX3M2B1600C9 kit.
I don't want to go to all the expense just to find the performance increase isn't enough to justify the cost.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, just some light gaming, but heavy web browsing, with ~30 browser tabs open at a given time (yes I know), in addition to some Lightroom/Capture One Pro usage.

The page http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i7-6700HQ-Notebook-Processor.149420.0.html says: "The Intel Core i7-6700HQ ... the chip also integrates ... a dual-channel DDR4-2133/DDR3L-1600 memory controller". Same holds for the i5 6300HQ version. ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i5-6300HQ-Notebook-Processor.149424.0.html)

Since the laptop doesn't support DDR4 & with only a DDR3L-1600 memory controller in the processor, is 1600MHz the only speed at which it can utilize the RAM, even though we may throw something like 1866/2133/2400 MHz RAM at it, even if it supports it?

    Thanks,
    Jp

Updating the driver on this computer makes it alot better. Especially the sound. You should probably update the review. :)

I always update drivers when I get my machines, so I'm not sure how that would change the results/conclusions of my review. The speakers were ok, nothing special.

    Hi Amae85,
If you still have the PCIe ssd can you try one again...
Update to the latest Intel Rapid Storage drivers first...

According to Intel, the chip supports DDR4-2133, LPDDR3-1866, DDR3L-1600. intel ARK link

@Ramzay you mention u changed out the DDR3L-1600 ram to 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3L 1866 CL10 (2x8) how did that go? any issues? im thinking about buying DDR4 ram as according to intel its supported.

    Will it work with DDR4?

Rather be sure than to spend £60 for nothing.

    +1 on the review btw

the cpu can handle different range of ram sticks doesnt mean that the motherboard can do the same thing.

    Hi Ramzay!
I have this notebook with i7 and I write quick review and comparsion with Acer V15 Nitro. Please take a look:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...oblems-comparsion-with-acer-v15-nitro.798428/

Maybe you can help me. :)

    EDIT:

1,Is here someon who has icc profile for LG display? Because the colors are very low saturated especially red.

    2,
How to past 135Mhz overclock limit on GTX 960M?

3, How to set on bios lower CPU voltage? I dont want to use XTU. -150mV undervolt is stable for my i7 6700HQ. 200mV testing. How to unlock multipliers in XTU?

4, How does this laptop behave if cpu temperetarues are too high? Because on 94°C still full turbo clocks. (Before undervolt)

5, How to set to playing on battery with full performance? Because it freezs and laggs. Power mode with full performance.
Sorry for my english, it isn't perfect. :)
