My 700m suddenly does not have sound. I have tried adjust everything, no sound. I also re-installed the driver, also no sound. What's the suggestion? Thanks.

Does it work through a headphone jack?

Try the headphone jack, if the sound comes properly, then your speaker cord is probably ruptured, i got this problem long time ago and it's quite popular with 700m/710m series because of their speakers design.

This is a known problem with the 700m. Contact Dell.....they'll most likely send out a whole new screen.

Is this fixable with Next Business Day service? They are insisting that I mail it into the Depot, even though I have NBD, because according to them the on-site tech can't handle this repair.

If you have any computer hardware knowledge whatsoever, you can change it yourself. Just go slow and take your time making sure of which cables go where, and which screws got removed from where. Do a search and you should be able to find a service manual as well.

Try insisting that you'll replace the part yourself as you can't be without your laptop for an extended period of time.
