    hi,

I have been trying to decide what laptop to get and think i might have decided on a 700m. however, as they don't sell them over in the UK, i thought of getting it off ebay. has anyone done this before, and if so, is it reliable? the guy is a poweseller, so should be ok i reckon.

also, is this laptop a good one? what are pros and cons? i want to get a pretty mobile laptop, but mainly to be used with normal Office documents, music, photo, internet, etc. and should i try and alter these specs? price is US $1,518.00.

If you are buying off eBay, you better make sure they ship overseas first. You might have warranty issues buying it here. The keyboards on the 700m are not very good. I would not describe the build quality as stellar. The screen on the 700m is very nice.

I got my 700m about 4 days ago, I love it, I also have a I9300, which I bought but did not realise it was so BIG, so I could not take it to work everyday. So got the 700m with 3 years warranty, accident cover, etc. So I can take it and if it gets knocked around I am protected for 3 years.
700m is a great little computer.

If you are refering to the 700m, it is not meant for gaming. No notebooks that small are. The GPU is integrated into the motherboard and not upgradeable.

I've had my 700m for about 3 months now. I use it for school. Its the perfect size to throw in my notebook and take to classes. But it would be a great all around or business notebook too.

The screen is fabulous. Best screen I've ever seen on any computer ever. No joke. Its great for watching DVD's on long flights, or just for work in general. Its nice and bright, easily visable in all lighting situations, and has a REALLY wide viewing angle. Which I guess could be a good or bad thing, but its a good thing in my book.

The 700m is not made for gaming, but it will play most games pretty well. I've played warcraft 3 on it and it ran perfectly with all the settings at maximum. If you're playing farcry or something, it would probably be difficult.

The keyboard is smaller than most, but it really only took me a couple days to get completely used to it. I think I actually like typing on it better than most keyboards.

The internal wifi card is really good too. I get better reception than anyone else I know.

Its also blazing fast. Especially if you reformat once you get it. All that crap dell puts on there really bog the system down. Dell will send you a clean copy of windows pretty quick if you e-mail them.

As far as the ebay things goes. If he's a powerseller, and he's got a good return policy, then I say go for it. But really check out the return policy. Its a pricey investment and you don't want to get stuck with a peice of crap.

edit: By the way, I'm pretty sure those are the maxed out specs for the 700m, so I wouldn't see any reason to change any of them.
