Hi guys, I currently just purchased an Inspiron 700m, it comes with 256 MB of ram. I'm thinking about adding either 512 MB or 1 GB to it. I'm wondering if 1 GB of ram is a waste on such a slow system (1.6 ghz, shared video memory) . Will adding a 1 GB instead of 512 provides me with any significant improvemnt?

1.6 ghz is not a slow system ; I think you're comparing it to a Pentium 4 - if it were a pentium 4, 1.6 would be pretty slow. Since it's pentium M, a different family, it's way faster.

Mine is 1.8 and has 1 GB and its very fast, but it depends on what you're looking to do with it.
