As a fairly new and very happy owner of an Inspiron 7537 with a Hybrid Drive (1TB, 8G SS Cache), after updating the BIOS to A07 today, I had a closer look in the BIOS, and noticed that the Hard Drive mode was set to AHCI, and that the other option was "Intel Smart Response Technology".

After searching around, I soon discovered that this referred to the automatic caching of the most commonly used files to Solid State storage to enhance performance. After deciding to take the risk of enabling it, my machine definitely now boots quicker, and feels snappier.

I'm now wondering that if the default setting was AHCI, does this mean that previously, there was no caching at all onto the solid state cache ?

Any comments would be most welcome !

    Thanks.
