Your power drain is rather high. What power plan do you have your machine set to? Also check for any applications putting unnecessary load on the CPU. You're at 30% wear, too, so that also plays a role. You only have about 70% of the original capabilities of the battery at your disposal.

I don't know why battery only charges to 70% or so.
It's still under warranty, does Dell cover that?
I just now changed to on battery = Better Battery mode.
I also played with ThrottleStop and now BatteryInfo shows 2.5-3.5 hrs.
My normal mode of usage is browsing and some streaming and watching downloaded movies. -

Battery warranties are usually only 6-12 months.
Make sure there's no Virus or mining malware. -
Some Windows update failed to install properly on mine late last fall and my machine has been a mess ever since. If the new spring creators update doesnt fix it i will havevto do a clean instal. Mynissue iscwell known andvtge fix from microsoft didnt fix it.
Mine is always plugged in so i cant speak for battery, but my o/s has gone buggy -
I would recommend firing up Throttle Stop and checking your power draw in watts doing various tasks to get a better idea of what's going on.
Also examine your C states. It sounds like your machine is not going deeper than C2 or C3.
You may also have too many things running in background processes not allowing your machine to enter lower power levels.Last edited: Apr 28, 2018
