So here's a short summary of my foolery that has landed me in a soup.

Laptop made clicking noises on opening and closing from the left hinge. I could see the chassis flexing and opening up a little bit.

When I looked closely, I saw a black plastic extension like thing. I assumed it to be a manufacturing defect. And if I cut it, it would make the clicking noise go away.

Unfortunately, I didn't think once to step back and try and get a feel for the material even.

Since it was easily accessible, took a knife and cut it. This "black plastic extension like thing" just happened to be the WiFi Antenna Cable. Post the surgery, the WiFi reception was understandably terrible.

I tried looking online for replacements, but am a little wary of the wire lengths.

    WiFi Card: Intel 3165
    Connector Type: NGFF
    Form Factor: M2

Taking these things into account, I looked at ordering this:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-x-75cm-WI...845788?hash=item3ac5a2379c:g:fh0AAOSwjXRXXucd

It has the longest wire length and should suffice in my opinion. But if someone knows the exact length of the antenna cable, it would be of great help.

Could someone help me find the right WiFi antenna for the Inspiron 7559? Thanks!

(For the curious mind, I fixed the chassis flexing issue by tightening a screw after removing the back cover and have ordered a USB WiFi dongle)

There's a good chance that the part you have found will work. It has the MHF4 plug which is the right size. The unknown is the required length of the cable - 75cm is probably too long - but it is possible to unsolder the cable from the antenna, cut it to length and resolder. In fact, you might want to keep whatever antenna is already in the notebook and solder onto that.

    Hey John,

Yeah, I realized that the cable being longer is better than the cable being shorter.

I did consider un-soldering the old cable and soldering in the new cable. Have ordered the parts.

    Will keep you guys posted.

Those creaking noises are a warning to what's happened to my 7559, the case has also begun to open up. It seems the hinge has put stress on a poor design and I guess a fixing has failed. My laptop was delivered a year ago tomorrow but Dell warranty tell me it expired 3 months ago! Just contacted them to be told they will fix it for £220!! Thank God under the consumer rights act 2015 here in the UK I should have some redress, I have sent them proof of purchase and a dispatch note but I feel like I may have to go to the small claims court for help. They promised to call me back Monday, not holding my breath. LAST DELL I BUY.
