Well I pulled out my old inspiron 8100 a while ago and it had a broken screen. So i bought a new one on ebay and it worked fine. then after a little while the screen would not register at all. nothing came up. idk if its the plug or what. anyone got any kind of guess on this, im in the process of getting an analog cord to hook it up to pc monitor, inverter problem not really sure.

how did the screen break, what about the rest of the notebook.. if there is no physical damage anywhere else, then i am guessing its either that the screen might not be compatible or connection problems.. and yeah get an analog cord and hook it up with your pc and see if its working

Boots up fine on external monitor, so I guess it's something with the screen. How can I start to diagnose what needs to be replaced and what are the possibly culprits?

After further inspection I think I need a new LCD cable. I just ordered one off ebay, they are only 5 bucks, so we'll see what comes of this.
