Hey guys I'm planning on giving my Inspiron 8600 to my mom since I'll be receiving my new laptop in a few weeks. She will be mostly using the laptop for business office use and the normal email, web surfing,word...etc...The laptop currently has 512MB of memory and was wondering if it would be a good idea to increase the memory to 1gb or 2 gb? Would there be a significant difference in terms of performance between 1gb and 2gb?

If she is doing just the basic stuffs, there is no differences in performance between 1 GB and 2 GB.

Use sites like shopping.com and look at the price break. Buy the amount you need for the functions you are doing.
