    hello everyone![ :)]

The standard issue battery for Inspiron 8600 i received was replaced by the DELL company after the previous battery simply conked out after just about six months of use [ I was using battery power just intermittently! ]. However, I still have a problem with my laptop. I tried to charge the new battery but then I discovered my laptop is not charging the battery when I put on the AC power. Any explanations about this guys?
I called the support office and I was told that somebody will return my call but as of this writing, I havent received any word from them.

Have you upgraded to the latest BIOS? That might be a place to start.

    Hello!

When I bought my unit, it already had a revised bios. I even wonder if it was really brand new.

I might consider going to Dell's Website and download the newest BIOS, there have been a few revisions over the last few months. I'm not sure which version you have.

If that doesn't work, then I would suggest giving Dell a call again, because it sounds like a techincal issue.

There are some older Dell laptops where I work and a couple of them have battery charging problems. It's because they have a bad connection and keep coming loose. Maybe you should check that part out?
