man this is bothering me VERY VERY MUCH. ok here is my problem.
i got this dell inspiron 9100 from a buddy of mine. bought it off him. amazing laptop! It is very very fast and i would love to play some games on it.
when i install the drivers for the radeon 9700 screen goes black and comes back. however when i try and set the resolution to something else the screen goes black and dosnt come back on. I have uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled all the drivers. still no luck. I can use the default monitor but when it comes to playing games or watching some movies, it sucks extremely. When i start windows and hit F8 and choose
    -start windows in vga mode.
the video card does work and shows up that i am using it. But when i change the resolution i get the same problem. screen goes black and u can't see nothing. i have even opened the laptop and tried to mess with the plus bc someone had mentioned that. and still nothing.

    someone please help me.
post on the thread or im me SimplyF0rg0tten
please if someone can get this to work i will paypal them $5 :) :)

    somene help

The first thing that came to my mind is are you sure that the laptop has a Radeon 9700 and not 9800? both of those cards were available for that laptop.

Do you get any kind of errors on boot up or in the device manager?

What drivers are you using? Try the Omega drivers from www.omegadrivers.net.

Be sure to completely remove the old ones before you install the new ones, as in go into the Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, get rid of the ATI drivers and restart. Then install the Omegas.

Have you run your notebook at its native resolution? Or if nothing happen, maybe you could re-install your windows. I have experienced my screen suddenly goes blank, but windows still running..very annoying, but after installing windows, the problem disappears.
