I have an Inspiron 9200, and when I play youtube videos, it lags so much. I am not even plying them in HD, just SD. I have reformatted, installed the ATI Mobility 9700 driver from the dell website, and no luck.

    Specs are:
    Intel Pentium M 1.7Ghz
    2Gb of RAM
    ATI Mobility 9700

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What OS are you running? You could try install Adobe Flash Player 10.1. Its supposed to make videos run smoother. Maybe try video drivers from ATi.com. IDK if they'll work though. Flash 10.1 is your best bet.

I am running windows XP, and I do have v10.1. The GPU is now unsupported, and the legacy drivers don't work. I think the GPU is knackered.

Its Flash its a CPU Hog, combined with an older GPU its gonna chug. It should not just look at your CPU activity monitor when you start the Youtube video. It will jump to 90% or 100%.

I've watched YouTube video on a Dell I6000. It had a 1.6GHz Pentium M, 1GB, ATi x300(about the same as the 9700). It plays them fine.
