Hi,
I have an Inspiron 9300, XP Home, Latest Dell NVidia drivers for the Go6800 card.
When I press FN+F8 to switch video outputs the little icons appear rapidly and allow me to switch, BUT the actual switch takes a while to take effect, somewhere around 20 seconds.
Is that normal?
Thanks,
Keops

That sounds long to me, but I don't have this model. Maybe someone else can confirm. You might also check for updated drivers in the interim.

it takes about 2 seconds when i press it. but i dont have quickset installed so i dont know if that has anything to do with it.
what exactly does that do anyway? -
the switch on my 6000 when plugged into the tv take a little while. maybe 10 to 15 seconds.
when plugged into lcd display, it's faster.
it all depends on what you're plugging into and what your current config is. -
hmm i think it takes about 2-3 seconds for me. not sure maybe you need to update the video drivers?

Thanks for the replies, I've got the latest drivers from Dell. I am planning to try drivers from other sources, but according to doobie04 it varies with what I plug into. This is for my tv, he might be right.
Thanks,

I've installed the 81.85 drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com and it fixed my slow switched. It's now instantaneous.... and Quake 4 also seems to run a bit better!
