Just got off the phone with the sales rep and he told me that the Inspiron 9300 launch date is 28 February 2005.
He also told me that the Inspiron 9200 is not making a comeback here (i.e. The 9300 is an outright replacement for the 9200).
Cheers,

well to be smart, i'd stick with a lower end graphics card (9600-X600) or so
i think anything above that would just kill the battery[]
but then again i still wouldn't mind having a 6800 or X850[}]
good luck to you and your laptop! ima be so jealous when you get it[)]

Hey mate, I'm just as surprised as you!
I just asked for the basic configuration quote, but I will not order until it is online - my guess is that the 6800 will still be an optiopn...but from the benchmarks, the X300 seems better.

The x300 better in benchmarks than the 6800? Are things upside down south of the equator? []
<hr height='1' noshade id='quote'></font id='quote'></blockquote id='quote'>
lol, the only thing X300 would be better at is preserving battery life, wouldn't drain it so much compared to 6800
other than that, 6800 is untouchable by the X300[]

so x300 is similiar to 9600( x600 vs. 9700 ) in terms of graphic performance? i am gettin an i8600, if the video cards are similiar, i would rather get i6000 instead.

Most of these new high power cards can go into a low, powersavings mode when not active. I guess we'll have to wait for benchmarks to see if they're comparable though.

Well, Dell considers the 256Mb 6800 an upgrade to the 128Mb X300 [
]
The benchmarks from www.tomshardware.com indicate that the X300 is slower than the 6800 but faster than the Radeon 9800, 9700, and 9600 series (because it's PCIe not AGP I guess).
However, when it comes to the X800, it is faster than the 6800. Dell unfortunately don't have the X800 for any of it's notebooks so the 6800 is as good as it gets (for the time being).
Another interesting page is the benchmark results between the 6800 and the 9800 at http://www.tomshardware.com/mobile/20041108/geforce_6800-09.html
