Does anyone know whether the CPU and GPU will be upgradeable in the future? Either thru Dell or thru a reseller?

It will make a lot of sense to but the lowest processor available now (730) and wait for the prices to drop in the future and get a (770 or higher), if the GPU is upgradeable.

And for the GPU, if one can upgrade to a X800 or 6800 ultra in the future, the 9300 will look very attractive next to the XPS...

In short, yes. The only thing you must take into consideration is the power consumption of the new processor or video card. I asked a Dell tech this same question. For the GPU: Any PCIe laptop card will "fit" in the slot on the motherboard. He said that, "at this time" there is no way of knowing which PCIe cards will "work". We will know in time as soon as new PCIe cards are developed. Once again, it all depends on how much power the GPU will pull. I have put a link to Intel's website which gives more information about the Motherboard/Chipset that is used in the I9300.
