First off the 9300 comes with 5400rpm drives or the 60G 7200rpm, for gaming you wont really see that big of a diff. between 5400 & 7200 mabey a little quicker load times.
As far as ram you will definitely notice a diff. going from 512 to 1G but for the price just get it from Newegg.com you can get 1G of transend from them for like $110. So buy it with 256mb then order a 1G chip so then you'll have 1.25G, and dont be afraid about adding ram yourself very easy to do just take out the two screws on the bottom where it says ram and pop it in the open slot. and no it does not void any warranty
As far as 1.73 vs. 1.86 I have the 1.73 and it runs great. So I'm not sure how much of a difference there will be. But as far as gaming not that big since games are mostely GPU dependant and the 6800 has more than enough power to run any game out.
hope this helped... -
