Dell uses many suppliers for the hard drive, Fujitsu, Western Digital, Toshiba, Hitachi and Seagate. Your laptop could include a drive from any of those companies and you really dont have a choice although a higher capacity, higher rpm drive is likely to be a toshiba or hitachi, you cannot choose which one you get, sorry.

The same goes for all of the other hardware in your lappy.
As zazons pointed out though, one nice touch is that dell no longer uses 4200 rpm drives, you would be surprised how many other companies still do like uh hummm sony to name one. ANyhow you will at the very least get a 5400 rpm drive and they perform on par wiht a 7200 drive and are much quieter.
