Okay I have an Inspiron 9300. I bought in in June 2005. So the warranty has expired. I recently was using it and it was working fine. I shut the lid and left it on the table. I went to use it about 4-5 days later and it wouldnt boot up. I thought maybe the battery was dead so I plugged it in and was greeted by a fast flashing amber light, like it does when the battery is real low. It still wouldnt boot, so I swapped out my spare battery and left it to charge. The next day I tried to boot up and when I push the on button the green light comes on and immediately goes off NO SCREEN, NO DRIVE ACCESS, NOTHING. I treid both batteries, ON AC, NO AC all the same result. It is dead just a green light for like 2 seconds and dead. Anyone have any ideas, I had no warning of anything it just died.

    Thanks

Oh does anyone know if I can buy the extended warranty after the fact to get Dell to fix it?

Does it seem like it is working while there is no screen?

Could it be a dead harddrive?

remove your hdd, and your battery, then plug in the AC adapter and try to boot it up. If the BIOS boot won't boot up, i would say sth wrong with the mainboard.
