    Hi All,
I was just wondering....I currently have a 9300 with a 60 gig 7200 RPM hard drive model #HTS726060M9AT00 (7K60) about 1 1/2 old...Will I see ANY perfromance increase by upgrading to the newer Travelstar in the 7K100 family in either a 80 or 100 gig drive ???

By the way my 60 gig drive is no where full yet so hard drive space is not an issue !!!

    Thanks....shkj

Yes, there will be a performance increase - how much, I'm not sure. The reason for the performance increase is because the platter density is higher, which means the read/write head does not have to seek as far in order to access/write data.

But, your current drive is very quick . . and since it's not full, I wouldn't bother with the upgrade.

I think I need to refer back to the old saying. "If it isn't broke, don't fix it." You current drive seems to be fine and the increase won't be all that much. :D

There will be a definate increase in performance, but is it worth taking another battery & wallet hit?

Unless you're in need of the added space, or are noticing performance issues associated with the old drive I wouldn't bother.
