Whenever I leave my notebook running, I close the screen, and have it set to Do Nothing. It of course shuts of like it's supposed to, but if I leave it closed for a long time, when I open it back up the screen simply won't come back on. I tried pressing the power button because I thought maybe it was in Standby, although I have it set to never go to Standby when on AC. Pressing the power button only makes the computer turn off, and when I turn it back on, the monitor is on fine. When this problem occurs, I can tell the computer is still running because when I hit certain keys it will beep and such.

    I have no idea.
My sister has an Inspiron 1100 she got a couple of yrs ago, she uses the standby feature when closing the screen, and as of a couple of months ago, when opening up the screen in the hopes that the computer will resume and function, the screen also 'simply won't come back on'. I've fiddled around with it but cannot get it to work.

u have 2 press the power button in that case 2 put it on...and i know why it won't work...even if u set the screen 2 "do nothing"...you have 2 change the settings like go into hibernation or standby mode after xx minutes or turn screen off after xx minutes...u have 2 go 2 power settings to fix it

i think you have to set the settings at least to turn off your monitor. leave the hard drive on forever when you connect to the ac, but at least set a time for the monitor. maybe the computer got a little confused.

I think the problem had to do with my monitor being set to turn off after 15 minutes. My old Inspiron 6000 was always set to that as well, but would always turn back on after hitting a key. Oh well, it's fixed now, thanks.
