I recently purchased a Truemoble 350 bluetooth card for my Inspiron 9300. I found the drivers for it on dell's website:
Drivers & Downloads
I downloaded the driver that is specified for my computer and before the driver gets done installing is stops and says that there is no blutooth device connected. The blutooth indicator light comes on when I plug the card in. I've tried restarting after pluggin the card in and plugging the card in when the computer is off but nothing seems to work. How can I get it to work?

Are you sure it is working? Does it show up in Device Manager?
-
That is exactly what I'm trying to find out. I've had it plugged in and I just unplugged it watching the device manager for changes and there was no change. What are some things I can check? The part number on the card is RD530 Rev A00.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
See if BIOS detects the device? It should be on like the "System Configuration" page, or a page with a similar name.
-
I've been trying to find the bios but I can't. The only page I can find is the System one in the control panel.

AHH that bios page. Thanks! I'll be checking tonight.

So, I checked the bios and it wasn't present. I was unaware but the company that I bought the bluetooth module from sent another one. I plugged it in, checked the bios on start up and it was present. When Windows started up, it recognized it and intalled drivers that were on my machine. In the control panel I had a new bluetooth device option. I was able to pair my phone to it but without the proper drivers, it wasn't able to do file push or anything. So, I went to the same webpage as I mentioned before and started to install the dell drivers. It went amost all the way except close to the end of install, it says to "Turn on bluetooth" use " Fn + F2". I didn't shut off bluetooth to begin with and the bluetooth indicator was lighted but no matter how many times I turn it on and off it still comes up with the same error. What could the problem be?

Did you enable Bluetooth in BIOS? Is it already enabled?
-
Bios says that bluetooth is installed and everything it is enabled

Long shot but have you tried installing the drivers in Safe Mode? I have seen driver installations fail right at the tail end like you are describing. I have done Safe Mode a couple of times and had success.
Also, in the Device Manager, if the device is truly present, instead of running the driver installer application try to install the driver manually. IE: Select the driver from the included CD and install it that way. Just my thoughts of things to try. -
I tried to install in Safe Mode and it windows installer couldn't be accessed. Then when I tried to go directly to the installer on the C: Drive to install the "Bluetooth HID Switch Service" it comes with an error saying that the administrator has settings to prevent the installation. I don't know of anything that I've set to prevent it. I also logged in as "Administrator" and it still didn't work. When I try to install "BtSwInst" it attempts to uninstall. I'm guessing it is properly installed.
-
Well that is a good clue right there. The bit about administrator settings set to prevent the installation. That is the issue we must overcome. Is this Windows 7 we are working with?
-
Its windows xp but that was only when i tried to run the installer directly. I uninstalled last night and reinstalled and got hung up in the same spot as before.
-
Right click on the installer and select Run as Administrator. If this does not work, we have to sort out permissions. Somehow your machine doesn't think you have the correct level of permission to install drivers. I believe this is the chief reason why this isn't working for you.
-
So, I am able to run the installer and get it to update the firmware. I finally looked at where it hangs up and when it is doing the Dell Bluetooth Stack Setup, it hangs up when it is installing the drivers and asks to turn the bluetooth on. The indicator is on. I went into device manager and was able to locate it as a USB device. I updated the driver and it found out that it is a truemobile 350 but I still can't get any farther than installing the drivers in the Bluetooth Stack.
-
I think that it is a problem with Dell Bluetooth Stack. When I went to Device Manager and updated the driver of the "Unknown" USB device It enabled a bluetooth symbol in the task bar near the clock. I was able to push a picture to my phone but I wasn't able to detect my laptop with my phone. I am at a loss.

Bump for help
-
Bump anyone?
-
Have you already made your computer's bluetooth visible to other devices through the bluetooth symbol in the task bar near the clock?
-
I appologize for the lapse in time before I got back to this. Anyway, I the discovery mode box checked in the settings. Right now, I still have the bluetooth icon in down by the clock and I can access settings, search and pair with devices but I can't send or receive anything.
