I already ordered mine with an Intel Core Duo T2300 Processor (1.66 GHz). However I've been wondering the performance difference compared to some of the faster Core Duos.
As far as I can tell the only difference is clock speed: all of them are built with a 65nm process, have 2MB L2 cache shared between the 2 cores, and 667Mhz Front Side Bus. The T2600 is clocked at 2.16 GHz, the T2500 at 2 GHz, the T2400 at 1.83 Ghz and the T2300 at 1.66 Ghz.
Would all you lucky guys with i9400's mind posting some benchmarks or Super Pi results?
Edit: Just in case, Super Pi is a short 71 KB download away at: http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=36

If I got the 2.16 Ghz processor I guess it would be 8% faster per chip? -
I just found an interesting comparison between Pentium 4, Core Duo, Pentium M/D, AMD Athlon XP/64 and PowerPC processors at: http://www.systemshootouts.org/processors.html
The site concludes that:
- A Core Duo T2300 (1.67 GHz) = Pentium 4 4.0 Ghz = Athlon 64 4000+ (2.4 GHz).
- A Core Duo T2400 (1.83 GHz) = Pentium 4 4.4 Ghz.
- A Core Duo T2500 (2 GHz) = Pentium 4 4.8 Ghz.
Of course, those comparison are to be taken as a rough reference at best. -

Anyone with a T2300? -
An interesting experiment would be to run it twice, I think it is single threaded so I would assume you could run2 of them at the same time and get almost the same scores. This is where the real spead up should be seen.

I regret not getting the T2600 processor when after discounts it would have only cost me $240 more. But $240 can get me a lot of other stuff like a nice 250gb USB hard drive + other stuff.
I'm glad to find out my processor is faster than an XP 4000+, because actually I am an AMD fan, and all my regular computers are AMD. But my Abit Kr7A133 / AMD XP 2100+ / ATI X800 Pro 1.5 GB computer is a better gaming maching than my laptop - it got 4099 3d mark 05. -
2M SuperPi on my system in my sig: 1m18s.
Note I have formatted but my system is NOT completely set up yet. I just ran Pi a sec ago and got that. I was installing world of warcraft during the pi run. -

I am going to have to run SuperPi again on my machine. I think last time I ran it I was at 1:29. Specs in my sig...sounds about right though huh?

1m14s in 2m superpi but i didn't bother to restart.

1:12 in super pi, no restart.. core duo 2.0

My system is loaded with the Dell junk + MS Antispyware + 3 License servers (for Unigraphics, Proengineer, Cadfix) + OS system mods from installing Visual Studio 2005 (.NET system mods, etc) + MS SQL Server 2005. I have about 76 processes running at startup, how many do you have? -
I only have the 512mb ram that i ordered from dell, havent gotten anymore from newegg yet. XP MC, didnt reformat or overclock. I uninstalled all the junk from dell and have about 50 or so processes running.
Just ran it again and got 1:13. havent restarted or anything in like 8 hours. dont know why my time is so decent. -

These Duo processor are really HOT! My system is faster than my work computer which is a Dual Xeon 3.06 GHZ 1.5 GB Ram - 35 process Super PI 2 M after startup - 2:10 ! Very surprising!
I'm very happy I got the Duo, when actually I'm an AMD 64 X2 fan for desktop computers. -
. Perhaps you have some Spyware? Adaware?
-
Hehehe, it turns out that the Core Duos blow ANYTHING out of the water when it comes to Super Pi!

I suspect the Core Solo (1.66) would get someting close to it's Core Duo counterpart as Super Pi is a single threaded application.
-
thanks xamdvsintelx...so this means that the core solo would be comparable to a 4.0ghz or 3.9ghz P4?

Hiya lads. Iv just ordered a 9400 with the 2.16GHz Duo and 2x1024MB (677MHz) ram.
I noticed that you do not have a superpi result for the 2.16GHz processor. But im expecting to get it tomorrow and when I do a clean Window XP install ill post my SuperPi results. -
Got 1 minute 10 seconds. Not so bad. Thought I might get 1:08 though
-
If anybody was still curious about the T2300, with a few backg=round apps going like Trillian and Firefox, I got 1:29
