    Hi Guys,

My geforce go 7900 just went on my inspiron 9400. I went on ebay to check prices for that card or the gtx version but there are really expensive for such an old card. Does anyone know of any other cards that are compatible with this model? I dont really care what goes in as long as its as cheap as possible, my mum just uses it for internet browsing.

    Cheers

There was an Ati X1400 available for it as well as a 7800GS and 7800GTX

The ati x1400 will be cheapest as it is the lowest end graphics card available for your notebook.

You will need a dell replacement graphics card. Try ebay before buying it from Dell.

This site is really good on the information end:

Did you try the "baking" fix?

You did not describe the failure mode or behavior. My system had lines all over the screen for the BIOS screen, and I do not remember the look after booting into Windows. I baked the graphics card at 380F (I used a thermometer, found that my oven is 60F high!), and it has been running well for months!

Google for "bake 9400 graphics" for more details and users' experiences.
