    Inspiron 9400 battery problem

    hi, everytime i plug in a usb gamepad while on battery the laptop has a electrical, statical hissing sould. One that is quiet but really high pitched. I have no idea what causess this problem and it only happens when on battery. Any advice?

    This hissing sometimes comes on without the usb gamepad, and one more thing is when i just unplug sometimes windows say no battery detected.

    Are you able to determine where exactly is this hissing sound is coming from? It could be your capacitor within the notebook that's leaking fluid like in my previous 4150

    its in the area of the cpu fan, hard to pinpoint but definately related to the power. Only comes on without the battery. Any other advice on some test i could run? Ways to fix it?

    sounds like a defective battery - did you check to make sure that yours was not one of the batteries subject to recall last year?

    No actually, I got it apr assumed it was good, where do u check for the recalled batteries?

    lol, for a 2.2 g laptop i expect it to be free of problems. And no, those problems actually exist and r all quite easy to tell.

    Just phone dell.
    My laptop was playing up at first and i phoned thier techinical suppourt line.
    They helped me ressovle all the issues relitvly quick.
