    Inspiron 9400 blank screen

    Press the start switch the panel lights come on the hard drive functions the
    screen stays blank, attach a external monitor you got to play around with the
    Fn and F8 on the keyboard and the external monitor turns on, there are some vertical and horizontal bars till it comes to starting windows there after it works fine. you play with Fn/F8 and sometimes the laptop screen turns on.
    I am using Windows 7 Ultimate. When you do the PSA test you get a
    ERROR Code: 1000-0146 msg unit 0:IDE statis failed. statis byte= 64 Control Code= 1msg=NO.
    Incompatable Video Controller
    Vesa function Ox4fO2 returned AX=14f can some one help?

    Can you take a picture of these horizontal and vertical bars? It sounds like your GPU might be kicking the bucket...
