I've just recieved my new Inspiron 9400 with WXGA Truelife display. Graphics card is 256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEAON X1400 Hypermemory. Display quality is very poor and not what I expect from a laptop at that price. I've noticed while trying to tweak and improve image quality that there is no place to adjust Hardware acceleration. Is this a Windows Vista thing?. Both Dell computers i have had had this option and image quality is very good. Any tips on improving Display quality would be appreciated. Tks Joed

I found my display looked it best at the maximum 1400 resolution, the others were quite poor.

I wish I had upgraded it, did you pay the extra for the ultrasharp or truelife?

This is the screen I got, looks ok but with light leakage on the buttom about a 2-3 cm uneven strip that is bright than the rest also kind of like two 10cm square bulge in the center, not very bright though.
Any one have experience with this screen? is it very bad should I replace it?

I didnt pay extra but I wish I had chosen a different graphics card. Ive updated Vista and drivers for ATI graphics card and still no improvement. Im thinkin i might have to spend some time on the phone with a Dell rep. If that doesnt work Im sending it back. You can vertical lines of resolution at 1200x780. I cant turn it up to 1400x without the font messing up to a point of being unreadable.

Yea. Sounds like the screen and/or the video card is messed up. I would just send it back for a refund if you can then order what you really want. They give you 21 days from shipment date I think. Someone correct me if I am wrong on that.
