Hi, for you guys who have Inspiron 6000/9300/XPS with DVDRW DL NEC-6650A, I would like to ask about your drive spec.
According Nero Info Tool, my dvdrw drive isnt capable of reading and writing DVD-R Double Layer(DL), only DVD+R DL.
So anyone who have this drive I want to know if your drive same with mine or not :)
Oh yes, can nec 6650 read and write dvd-RAM, maybe by flasing the firmwire?
    My firmwire version is 102C.
    Here is screenshot my drive:

It is should write -R DLs. Could be a Nero error. NECs don't do DVD-RAM.

I noticed on mine that i had to check some of the ones that it should be able to write to like the DVD-R.

I'm not sure if nero just doesn't detect it or what the problem is, but you can check any that you feel like it should be checked.

it is, i just don't know why it is.

Like i said, i had to check a few things when i ran Nero Info. I think one of them was CD-RW even. Things that are really simple that should have been checked

what version of nero are u using? i noticed nero 7 was horrible on my computer, I couldn't burn a lot of disks and I was getting a lot of coasters. Try reverting to nero 6, it is a lot more stable

this is not a nero issue. Dell ships the NEC-6650A with firmware that does not have -R DL capabilites available.

If you are comfortable flashing your dvd drive, head over to club.cdfreaks.com, find the liggy & dee's firmware updates for this drive, and go to it. I did it on my i6000d and it went fine.
