Hi everyone and Happy New Year:smile :) ,
I have E1505 and my battery decided to die today.
I have a simple question. Does anyone tried out those generic 9 cells battery for inspiron 6400 (E1505)? are they any good? most of them (made in China).

I ask this question because they are really cheap (90$ for 9 cells and 60$ for 6 cells) compared to genuine dell batteries (289$ and 160$).

in addition dell genuine batteries for inspiron 6400 are really bad (doesn't last beyond one year), so it is a waste of money to buy these expensive batteries.

    Many Thanks

I have only used DELL batteries but I am curious to know also. Hopefully someone has a good answer for us as I need a new Batt for my 1705. :)

I used to work in the IT department at a highschool with a Dell contract.
We tried a few of the generic batteries for some of out latitudes, and they were extremely light and did not hold a charge for more than a few minutes (~5-10).
Not saying all of these batteries are bad, just saying that I don't buy generic batteries for this reason.
I also got a brand new generic battery for free from a friend for my Inspiron 9200, which holds about 50 minutes of charge while my 6 year old Dell battery still kicks around 1:30-2:00. Both are rated for the same capacity.

Unless someone recommends a specific generic battery that they confirm is no worse than the standard OEMs I wouldn't touch em.

So, I'm stuck with dell genuine batteries which are both very expensive and bad (no matter what u do, the battery will not last beyond one year)

Please, inform me if there is anyone that have different experience, may be there is a hope after all.
I prefer to stay without battery instead of buying a very expensive battery that not last beyond one year.

I have Dell batteries around that are 8 years old and still hold 3-4 hours of battery...
As long as you take proper care of a battery it should last longer than a year, unless you use the laptop on battery for 6 hours a day. And if you use your laptop on battery for 6 hours a day, 200 bucks for a battery is very easy to justify (though on eBay it will be cheaper).

I bought a 9 cell off ebay a few weeks ago off the user polytran. It ended up not working. My Inspiron 6400 said that it could not be recognized and refused to charge it. Luckily polytran said he would refund me and I shipped it back to him. Now I'm debating on whether just to sell my laptop and get a new one or to buy a 9 cell from Dell.

The battery in my daughter's Inspiron died after 2 years, so I bought her a new one on ebay. I did a lot of internet searching. I found batteries from various sellers on amazon.com, and reading reviews from the sellers I would find a lot of people with praises but a good number that got bad batteries. On ebay I found several sellers with very high positive feedback numbers, so ultimately I ordered an extended capacity battery from them. The battery has been working fine for about 5 months.

From what I've heard, its kinda hit or miss. Sometimes it'll work sometimes it won't. Do you remember the seller you bought it from?

This is the seller that I used. I cannot endorse them except to say that my transaction with them went well and the product so far has been a good product.

    I second that.

I'll prolly do this myself for my E1505.
