When I booted up my inspiron e1505 the other day, the screen didn't turn on, but the power led began flashing, along with the caps lock and scroll lock leds. Dell's website says that this error means that no memory is installed, but I had two sticks in. I did some testing and discovered that each stick worked independently in either spot, but they would not work together. I went a few days just using one stick of ram, but then windows wouldn't boot, with a ATA error. The computer is out of warranty, and Dell won't offer any tech support. Some of my friends have suggested that this may be a motherboard error. Are there any other possibilities?

It sounds like the motherboard is dead on the computer, I'm not sure if there is anything you'll be able to do.

Dude, dont open 9 month old threads.

I was about to try and help him out

I had this problem once, but it turned out that I had a piece of dust in one of the memory slots. Use a toothpick and run it gently down the empty memory slot. It should get any dust/loose particles out. After that mine worked fine.
