Two days ago when I shut down my laptop everything was working perfectly and I just got done playing some COD4. Yesterday evening I go to turn it on and I'm hit with font the size of a quarter and windows tells me that I have no ATI drivers. I install the drivers four times to no avail, they're still on there but the computer can't see them. Of course since I'm still under warranty I call tech support, and while i'm on the phone with them we realize that I've lost the ability to go into stand by, hibernate, and when I shut down the computer just hangs at the "windows is shutting down" screen. The tech starts to get nervous when I tell him its gotten really slow too and tells me to back up everything on my hard drive immediately and call back. I called and we tried to reinstall windows, but the computer won't let me boot from the cd, I did everything the tech said and she told me to run a diagnostic and she would call back... She never did. Does anyone here have any idea what might be going on and what a fix might be? I want a new laptop but I was really planning on keeping this one around for as long as possible.

Talk to tech support again. If you're under warranty, it's their obligation to fix it, and if they can't, to send you a replacement notebook.
