    Inspiron E1705 memory

    I'm looking to upgrade my memory to 2GB, How do I find out how many pins I need, they range from 130+pin to 204 pin.

    The Inspiron E1705 has two memory slots and can hold upto a maximum of 2GB of memory. It supports up to 2GB of Dual Channel 667MHz DDR2 memory. It is a SO DIMM 200-pin memory module(Non-ECC).

    Just to let you know John, you can install up to 4GB of RAM in a Dell E1705. However, the computer will only recognize 3.2GB using 32-bit Windows 7... It's kind of a waste to buy just 2GB. That extra 1.2GB is pretty useful and the price isn't that much different. You can also use 800MHz DDR2 instead of 667MHz DDR2 but again, it only recognizes 667MHz so you are just underclocking the RAM. I don't know if it has any significant effect though...

    Last year, I installed new RAM in my E1705... Since then, I gave away this computer to my brother but it's still working perfectly.
    From newegg, I bought G.Skill 4GB (2x2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800MHz (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit. Model # F2-6400CL5D-4GBSQ.

    Run 1-2g stick and 1-1g stick, pc25300. It will recognizes and run 3gb.
