I have a laptop InspironE1705...inherited it from my mother. The battery was dead when I got it and I just ordered another battery from EBAY.

The battery charges and says it is good, but without the electrical plug in (using battery only), the computer goes out within 2 minutes.

I wrote the guy that sold it to me and he said to update my Bios as new batteries don't work well with old Bios. I checked and I have 3/06 Bios A01.

Should I upgrade??? to what Bios #?? And will that really make a difference??

    Thanks for any help. Linda

Yes upgrade, get the newest available from dells website. Just make sure to have a good power connection since your battery doesnt last long.
