My sister wants to buy a netbook and likes the Mini 10. We both prefer to buy from the Dell Outlet (and I've got a coupon right now) and they've got quite a few of the regular Mini 10 units (not the 10v) in stock. My instinct is to go for the higher resolution (1366x768) display vs. the standard-issue netbook WSVGA (1024x600) display. But I'm wondering if the 10.1" display is too small for the high resolution? How do the two displays compare in terms of brightness, contrast and overall image quality?
I'd appreciate any input from you guys!![]()

Get the HD screen for sure. It's also brighter, so more outdoor friendly, if that matters.
Keep in mind, it took a lot of tweaking before I had my Mini 10 up to performance I'd like. Most of this involved the ability to play HD video - the GMA500 supports hardware acceleration, so unlike other netbooks the Mini 10 can do 1080p video without a problem.
Also, overclocking - the Zxxx Atoms are very overclockable. You can create a short cut to SetFSB for automatic overclocking - you click the icon and the the program runs, overclocks to the desired speed, then automatically closes itself. I find it incredibly useful.
Oh, the mousepad takes some getting used to. It actually isn't that bad - in fact, I'd say its pretty good - with a little bit of tweaking and use. -
Personally, I think the Inspiron 11z is the perfect form and fit. Having owned a few Mini 10v's I find the 1366x768 res on the 11.6" screen perfect, plus the keyboard is just right. The chassis appears to be an identical clone of the Mini 10v, just a tad bigger. The Celeron units are plenty fast for a "netbook" but you have the option of a Dual Core Pentium, too. Check them out.

Go with 1366x768, less problems with viewing webpages and applications in Windows.
Inspiron Mini 10- (1024x600) vs. (1366x768) resolution- opinions?
