Had 2x4GB sticks from my old Alienware. They are Kingston 1333Mhz sticks. Got my mom a Inspiron 15R with 4GB RAM last year for the holidays, so since I wasnt going to use them anymore I deceided to updated her RAM to 8GB.
Now the weird thing, it runs at 1066 Mhz in the Inspiron.
Does the M370 not support that speed? Bios and GPU-Z show it running at 1066 Mhz.
Why is that?

Arrandale processors (Core i3,i5,dual core i7) only natively supports 1066 RAM. Only Clarksfield i7 for last generation Core i series processors supports 1333 natively. Now Sandy Bridge i3/i5/dual core i7 supports 1333 and quad core i7's do 1600.
Honestly it doesn't make a difference. Maybe slightly lower score in 3DMark or synthetic benchmarks, but you will not see a difference in real world usage. -
Well it was worth a try. These sticks where leftovers from my old system.
Is it possible to upgrade the CPU on this thing to the last gen. i3/i5/i7? To the Clarksfield I mean.
Or is the socket completly different? -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
The socket for last-gen i3/i5/i7 should all be the same... but I don't think you can use a Clarksdale i7 unless you have a chipset with an iGPU or a motherboard with a dGPU, as the Clarksdale i7s don't have onboard graphics.
All of the Clarksdale i7s are also rated for 45W TDP, which most likely will be an issue as well. -

Ya as stated, if your motherboard only had Intel GPU OR Nvidia Optimus you CANNOT go to the Clarksfield i7s as they do not have IGP on the CPU and you will not get POST and Optimus final display is done through IGP. Also the N5010 has a pretty poor cooling system as it is, 45 watt TDP is only adding insult to injury.

Well thanks for the quik replies.
The cooling is indeed weak, just browsing makes the fans go crazy.
Inspiron N5010 i3 M370 RAM problem?
