The paint on the corner of my Inspiron 1420 has started chipping. However, it's not the green paint itself, but rather the microsatin finish. At the edge of the chipping, there seems to be a "rust" color. This is also present along all the edges of the lid.

My question is if other Inspiron owners have experienced this.

Ouch - Sorry to see the damage. I've reallly been thinking about a 1420 especiallly since Computer Shopper gave it an 8.4 rating - but this doesn't look good at all!

I don't have this problem. Do you carry your 1420 with you a lot? It might have just gotten scratched, etc.

JellyGeo, I would really recommend the 1420. It's a sweeeeet laptop.

I have had the same issue on my yellow 1520. Not on the front edge like yours but the back, which really surprises me. Does anyone know if this is covered under warranty?

well with that being said, I will just wait until near the end of my warranty and send it in then. I didn't get any kind of an extended warranty or anything, so I only want to have to do it once, hopefully by waiting they will have improved the paint process to last longer. Thanks Zfactor for the info.
