I have a Inspiron 8600 I purchased off of ebay awhile back and the touchpad is peeling. I was wondering if there's anything I can do about this short of replacing parts. I'm kinda new to repairing or replacing things like this. If I wanted to purchase the part that contains the touchpad on ebay how hard would it be to install?
Thanks

My 600m is peeling, too. I asked somewhere once how to fix it. They told me on eBay I would buy the palmrest, and this comes with the touchpad unit, and so you replace this entire thing.

Is it hard to replace the palmrest?

I still haven't replaced the palmrest and am still hoping someone could explain if this is that hard to do.

Apparently there's a version of the 8600 with serial and parallel ports, too, but I don't think replacing the keyboard is going to be significantly different. -
